The Health Unit Coordinator acts as an interface between doctors, nursing staff and other hospital departments. This includes clerical, receptionist and managerial tasks such as transcription of doctor’s orders, medication uses and dosages, diagnostic procedures, basic human structure, medical terminology and medical abbreviations. They receive new patients and give direction to visitors.
