The health care worker shortage has gained national headlines;
the shortage is also acutely felt in Benton and Franklin Counties in
Southeastern Washington State.
Through a grant from the Benton-Franklin Workforce Development
Council, the Benton-Franklin Community Health Alliance created a
health care workforce development project team that includes
representatives from area educational institutions, health care
providers, insurers, labor, business, the WDC and the Alliance. The
project team has identified labor shortage areas, training needed to
increase the workforce, barriers to creating the needed workforce
and strategies to overcome the barriers. This website is one result
of the team’s on-going work.
